Perceptual Photometric Compensation for Projected Images
نویسندگان
چکیده
Digital projectors have been steadily becoming smaller and cheaper, and are now used to augment various surfaces with digital information. However, in situations other than the ideal dark room with a perfect white screen we must contend with ambient light and non-uniformity in surface colour, which will reduce the contrast of the output and introduce visible irregularities. Here we present a method to compensate for the irregularities and simultaneously achieve contrast equal or similar to that which would be obtained in the ideal situation. Rather than insisting on a photometrically perfect result we allow some errors in the final output due to the limited projector range and spatial variations, but these are bounded by perceptual limits derived from a model of the human visual system and the content of the image.

Improved motion compensation for 360° video projected to polytopes
360◦ video consists of images capturing the complete scene as seen from a single point in any direction. In contrast to conventional images, 360◦ images cannot be natively represented in a planar fashion. Consequently, video created from a sequence of 360◦ images suffers from geometric distortions. These are caused by mapping of the images from a sphere in 3D space to a planar image. This paper...

In direct-projected augmented reality, the visual patterns for compensation may distract users despite users would not be interested in the compensation process. The distraction becomes more serious for dynamic projection surface in which compensation and display should be done simultaneously. Recently, a complementary pattern-based method of efficiently hiding the compensation process from use...
متن کاملA Photometric Stereo Using Re-Projected Images for Active Stereo Vision System
In optical 3D shape measurement, stereo vision with structured light can measure 3D scan data with high accuracy and is used in many applications, but fine surface detail is difficult to obtain. On the other hand, photometric stereo can capture surface details but has disadvantages, in that its 3D data accuracy drops and it requires multiple light sources. When the two measurement methods are c...
متن کاملDetection of Non-Stationary Photometric Perturbations on Projection Screens
Interfaces based on projection screens have become increasingly more popular in recent years, mainly due to the large screen size and resolution that they provide, as well as their stereo-vision capabilities. This work shows a local method for real-time detection of non-stationary photometric perturbations in projected images by means of computer vision techniques. The method is based on the co...
متن کاملA New Approach for Scatter Removal and Attenuation Compensation from SPECT/CT Images
Objective(s): In SPECT, the sinogram contains scatter and lack of attenuated counts that degrade the reconstructed image quality and quantity. Many techniques for attenuation and scatter correction have been proposed. An acceptable method of correction is to incorporate effects into an iterative statistical reconstruction. Here, we propose new Maximum Likelihood Expectation Maximiz...
